Hydrogen Refueling Stations
Starting with the first public HRS in Switzerland in 2016 for Coop together with Linde to the latest station in Germany together with Morgen Mobility and Maximator Hydrogen. The HRS planned by H2 Energy represent the state of the art and are equipped for both trucks (350 bar uncooled) and cars (700 bar). The refueling times are similar to those for conventional petrol or diesel vehicles and the refueling protocol complies with SAE J2601. H2 Energy is the technical advisor for the H2 Mobility Switzerland Association. In this context, we have developed the basic requirements for the hydrogen refueling stations in Switzerland an are now actively involved in the implementation of a nationwide hydrogen infrastructure.

Consulting Services
Our HRS experts can support you through the entire process from planning and investment decision until construction, commissioning and operation. We work closely with your preferred equipment providers and architect / EPC partner to plan and execute projects. Our typical services include:
- Feasibility study for an H2 refueling station. Site analysis, preliminary clarifications with authorities, installation concept, rough profitability analysis & schedule.
- Preparation of planning application. Elaboration or control of installation plan (area, access, ex-zones).
- Implementation planning. Collaboration/support in obtaining quotations, ordering H2 fueling station components, planning on-site work.
- Installation & commissioning. Supporting the site management / client with the delivery and installation of the H2 components, commissioning, certification and acceptance.
Reference Projects
There are currently 18 hydrogen refueling stations operating in Switzerland, 17 of which are based on the same general architecture that was developed by H2 Energy and our equipment partner Maximator Hydrogen. The first of these modern HRS using the containerized hydrogen storage and logistics solution was built for AVIA Osterwalder in St. Gallen (2020). This was a retrofit of an existing conventional petrol station and features a very compact arrangement. This station also features the integration of a kvyreen charger, drawing from the common refueling station hydrogen supply. Since then we have supported in the planning and implementation of 13 additional stations in Switzerland as well as 5 in Germany.
