The second commercial hydrogen production plant in Switzerland was built at the run-of-river power plant in Kubel owned by SAK (St. Gallisch-Appenzellische Kraftwerke AG). The plant is in commissioning mode (as of December 2023).
This completely privately financed plant was adapted to the limited space and very strict noise regulations on site and has been supplying the eastern part of Switzerland with up to 300 tons of green hydrogen per year since 2023. In the filling part of the plant, three swap containers can be filled with 440 kg of green hydrogen per day.
